Extending Device Lifespan

In an era of rapid technological change, we recognize the importance of reducing electronic waste. That’s why we design our apps to support older devices:

• Our anndroid app is supported on Android 10+ (released in 2019).
• Our iOS app works very well on budget devices like iPhone SE (released in 2020).

We deliberately develop and test on older, less powerful devices to guarantee a smooth experience on existing smartphones, so our users don’t have to purchase new phones just to use Zeitkapsl.

Smart Background Processing

To further enhance efficiency, we schedule computationally intensive background processing tasks to be performed during the night while the phone is charging and connected to Wi-Fi. This ensures that our app does not drain battery life during the day when users need their devices the most.

Minimal Resource Consumption

We continuously optimize zeitkapsl to be lightweight and efficient, ensuring smooth performance even on less capable hardware. This not only improves user experience but also reduces energy consumption and the need for frequent hardware replacements.

Additionally, due to our E2EE architecture, we require all complex computations to be performed on the end device, which means we use very little hardware resources in the cloud.

We also put significant effort into caching to ensure that the app utilizes as little network capacity as possible. By reducing unnecessary data transfers, we help minimize energy consumption associated with mobile networks and cloud infrastructure.
