The Privacy Policy describes how zeitkapsl collects, uses and deletes your data. By using the website zeitkapsl.eu and using an account and all related functions, you acknowledge that your data in connection with your use of our services will be processed in accordance with the following Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy explains what data we collect through accessing and using the services, how we use this data and what protective measures we take to protect your data. The Privacy Policy should be read and understood as a supplement to our general terms and conditions.

The services are operated by hardcode GmbH (the “Company”, “we”), located at Franz-Hochedlinger-Gasse 2/14, 1020 Vienna, Austria. The company is therefore subject to the laws and regulations of Austria. We meet the requirements of the GDPR. Data collected and its use

Our top priority is to collect as little personal data and user information as possible in order to ensure private use of zeitkapsl’s services. We only use the limited information collected from you to provide you with zeitkapsl’s services. We do not have the technical means to access the content of your encrypted photos and videos and the associated metadata (in particular Exif and GPS data).

Information you provide

At the time of registration or through your use of our services, you provide us with the following information:

  • Your email address
  • First and last name
  • Preferred language
  • Email addresses of people you invite to zeitkapsl
  • Our communications with you and recordings or copies of such communications
  • Other information you provide to us for support purposes, bug reports, surveys, competitions, product feedback or via forms

Your photos and videos, as well as Exif metadata, with the exception of the date of creation and the aspect ratio of the recording (width to height), GPS location data and all derived data are transmitted and stored end-to-end encrypted. The decryption only takes place on your devices or those of another user with whom you share your data.

We need your personal data to identify you and to manage your subscription and we will store it as long as you have an active subscription with us.

After cancellation and expiration of your subscription, your photos and videos will be deleted from our servers after 14 days. All other data listed above will be deleted from our database 60 days after cancellation and will disappear from our backups 30 days later.

If you voluntarily provide us with additional personal information that is not listed here, we will delete it immediately.

Information we collect

  • Server logs (access times, IP address)
  • Device identifiers, including information about your internet connection, IP address and user agent details

  • Anonymized crash reports
  • Storage usage

Information provided by third parties

We collect details of your subscription plan and any payments you make to zeitkapsl (payment confirmations or invoices) that are provided to us by our third-party payment processors to receive services from us. We do not collect credit card or bank information.

Native Applications

When you use our native applications, we and the mobile application platform provider may collect certain information. This includes app statistics from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, including self-hosted Sentry crash reports to provide crash information to our developers so we can quickly fix bugs. Google or Apple may also collect aggregate, anonymous statistics, which may be subject to their respective privacy policies and terms and conditions. Such statistics may include the most commonly used devices and operating systems, the total number of installs and uninstalls, and the total number of active users.

Social Media

We are active on Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, Twitter, Reddit and Mastodon. If you send us data, correspondence or materials via social media, you do so at your own risk and there is no guarantee of your privacy. We cannot control the actions of other users of these platforms or the platforms themselves. Your interactions with these features and platforms are governed by the privacy policies of the companies that provide them.

Our website may contain links to other websites of interest. However, we are not responsible for the content of the websites we link to. External sites are subject to their own terms and conditions and privacy policies. We may use third-party services that may collect information about you in order to provide embedded content (e.g. images) on our website.

Third-party data processors

To provide the services, we use various data processors who process different categories of data. The data processors never store data that is not intended for the specific purpose. In particular, they do not store any data related to the general day-to-day use of your account and services, which are processed exclusively by the company. Subordinate data processors are:

Disclosure of data

We only share the few user data in our possession if we are legally obliged to do so by a binding request from the competent authorities. We can only comply with electronically transmitted communications if they are transmitted in full compliance with the requirements of Austrian law.

Your privacy rights at zeitkapsl

You can directly access your personal data that the company processes as part of your use of the services via the user interface of your account. You can also edit, delete and export this data.

If your account has been blocked due to a violation of our general terms and conditions and you would like to exercise your rights in relation to your personal data, you can submit a request to our support team (via email to support@zeitkapsl.eu).

In the event of a violation of your rights, you have the right to file a complaint with the competent supervisory authority.

Changes to the Privacy Policy

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Company reserves the right to review and modify this Privacy Policy at any time. As long as you use the Services, you are responsible for periodically reviewing this Privacy Policy. Your continued use of the Services after such changes have been made will constitute your acceptance of them.
